Cody Hale Art

Hale's primary technique involves using toothbrushes to splatter ink on illustration board. Hale starts developing his creations with several compositional sketches. He is then able to render out his compositions by masking and splattering multiple layers of ink over his drawings.

Hale's education in traditional illustration techniques has fueled an interest for creating detailed renderings, but he is also interested in the fluidity of organic forms. His technique marries these two interests by controlling the organic process of splattering ink to create recognizable, composed images. Hale is also interested in themes dealing with vintage style and popular culture, and he creates many vintage portrait pieces. Other themes he explores are those of popular science fiction and urban landscapes.
